LJ wants out of KC? Who gives a rats…
Word from the KC Star is that LJ wants out of KC.
My response: Whip-dee-do…
LJ, if you want out of KC so bad then get out man. I have defended Larry Johnson for while but I have grown tired of him and this last outburst may have done it for me.
“Hopefully, my future is not with this organization,” Johnson said after rushing 10 times for 18 yards.
LJ may be the best RB on the KC roster, but as it has been proven in the NFL you can succend with without a star running back. Running back by committee has worked very well for many teams recently (including the Super Bowl Champion Giants).
If you look at the teams in the playoffs this season, espescially those that willl most likely move on, most of them have good QB play, a strong (or atleast opportunistic) defense, and more than one capibale running back.
For now, I can be content with Jamaal Charles and Kolby Smith. Although I would think if LJ is out the Chiefs would look at picking up another RB either through free agency or the draft.
So LJ, we have all had enough. Go ahead, pack your things and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. As far as I am concerned if a player doesn’t want to be on the team then get him out of there. If the Chiefs truley want to build a contender (ala NE or NYG) they need to also show that no player is bigger than the TEAM.

Monday Morning Thoughts…

Happy non-Victory Monday y’all… Hope you had a solid weekend. I know I had a very nice (5-day) weekend!
Well, the Chiefs suck and I for one and just glad that the suffering is finally over. Losing always sucks, but losing like that just blows hard. Honestly I wish I was surprised by that, but I wasn’t at all… it’s just how the Chiefs roll now I guess.
Tyler Thigpen: Thiggy play yesterday left more to be desired, but if you look at his body of work as a whole you have to be happy with what he was able to accomplish this season. I truly believe that without Thiggy at QB this team might even won one more game and probably would have actually set a TON more of the all-time worst records that they managed to avoid
Chiefs Defense: The defense just sucks. With the improvement that the offense is shown I am leaning toward spending our top choice on a defense player (if one is there that is worth the pick). This defense needs help and I will be curious to see what Mr. Hunt and King Carl whoever is the GM will do to address this glaring weakness.
Herm Edwards: Odds are that we just saw Herm coach his last game as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs… I like you as a person, motivator and comedian Herm, but not so much as a head coach anymore. I wish you the best wherever you end up.
Now some news about this site:
I have been slacking off on creating post here and plan to start amping up more original content as the playoffs are here (no Chiefs) as well as the 2009 NFL draft. This should be a fun draft to follow as the Chiefs have not had a pick this high in a long time.
Well, that’s all for this Monday. Hope you guys have a great week!
Go Chiefs!

Game DayThread - Game 16: Kansas City Chiefs Vs. Cincinnati Bengals
So here is the final game of the year… game 16:
The Chiefs are 2-13 after their stupid loss to the Dolphins at home. As far as the NFL games this could be the weakest game on the schedule, but this game actually could have great implications for the playoffs division race 2009 NFL Draft (at least for the Chiefs).
For the Chiefs to have a chance in this game one of the keys for them will be to make sure their running game gets on track early (and if we get a lead RUN THE BALL and the clock) and Thigpen needs to keep playing like he has been since we went to the spread (since going to the spread Thiggy’s QB rating is pretty good). Just don’t blow it if you get a lead, Chiefs.
One thing I am worried about in this game is the fact that the Chiefs are playing on the road… I read that the Chiefs are 1-9 against the spread on the road in their last ten games… BTW the Chiefs are a three point underdog this week.
(Slipping on the RED colored glasses) Looking at this from a positive perspective, if the Chiefs can get that running game going, cash in their red zone and TO opportunites, and the defense stops them every onnce in a while I think we have a shot here. The Chiefs MUST win the turnover battle and CASH IN on the TO’s they do create if they want to stand a chance. That’s a lot of “IFs”, but the main thing I am worrid about is the 2nd half. IF the Chiefs actually jump out to lead I want to see them actually close a game out… is it Thiggy, Herm, or a combination of the two that just can’t keep a lead?
As always please post any comments, pictures, or whatever in the comment section below before, during or after the game. If you see something that you hated (or loved) let the rest of us know!
I’ll be yelling from my seat on the couch this week, hoping very much for a Chiefs victory in this FINAL GAME… ( I think I want a win… but a higher draft pick than the Rams would be nice too) its been an interesting year Chiefs let’s try to finish strong!
GO CHIEFS!!

Catching up with the Chiefs
Hey al!
I hope you all had a great Holiday and that if you are like me you are still enjoying your time off! :)
I know that I have been slacking here, not posting anything new since the last game (OUCH I know…) so I thought I would try to catch up a little bit. I did NOT forget about you guys, just got a little busy in the holiday hoopla… and yes I’m a last minute shopper.
Arrowhead Pride did a nice piece that show that the Chief actually are going to avoid most of the All-Time Worsts records they were on pace to set at Thanksgiving.
The Chiefs Promoted LB Weston Dacus From Practice Squad to the active roster.
Bob Gretz told us the search for the Chiefs new GM has offically began:
Chiefs Chairman of the Board Clark Hunt held at least one interview with a potential GM candidate early this week. The person and location of the meeting is unknown, but the process of interviewing and gathering information is very definitely underway.
Gretz is also keeping a list of possible GM candidates for the Chiefs.
Adam over at Arrowhead Addict gave his 10 reasons why the Chiefs are cooler than the Bungholes Bengals.
Looking to the game vs Cincy:
The Bengals are 3 point favorates at home vs the Chiefs and here is a breakdown by point-spreads.com.
Chiefs Breakdown: Kansas City assured themselves of a last place finish in the AFC West with last Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins. The Chiefs led Miami at half-time 28-24, but scored just three second half points in falling 31-38 at Arrowhead. Kansas City is now 2-13 and has lost their last three games by an average of five points.
The Chiefs are 1-6 on the road, averaging a meager 14.8 points per game outside the state of Missouri.
Bengals Breakdown: Cincinnati, despite their 3-11 record, does not have a total lock on the AFC North cellar. Last weekend’s victory over the Browns moved the Bengals to within a game of Cleveland, and should Cincy win this Sunday and the Browns lose, Marvin Lewis and company will move to the third spot in the division standings. What a small consolation prize.
The Bengals, winners of their last two games, are 2-4-1 at home this year and averaging just 12.3 points per game at Paul Brown Stadium.
NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Chiefs are 1-9 straight up in their last 10 games as a road underdog.
Well, I think that pretty much catches us up! Lets go Chiefs tomorrow at Cincy!

Game DayThread - Game 15: Kansas City Chiefs Vs. Miami Dolphins
So here is game 15:
The Chiefs are 2-12 after their sucky loss to the Chargers. This is a big game for both teams (yes… I am still trying that), as the Chiefs would like to freaking win a game and the Dolphins would like to stay in the playoff hunt. This game could also have great implications for the playoffs division race 2009 NFL Draft (at least for the Chiefs).
For the Chiefs to have a chance in this game one of the keys for them will be to make sure their running game gets on track early (and if we get a lead RUN THE BALL and the clock) and Thigpen needs to keep playing like he has been since we went to the spread (since going to the spread Thiggy’s QB rating is around 90 I believe).
One thing I am worried about in this game is the Dolphins offensive attack. Chad Pennington has been very effiecient this season and with the Dolphins running that ‘Wildcat’ you never know what you will see. So, be raedy Chiefs D for anything that might come.
That’s a lot of “IFs”, but I like our chances this week against the Fins… at least a little bit. You would think the Chiefs have to win one of these last two right, and this one is at home.
As always please post any comments, pictures, or whatever in the comment section below before, during or after the game. If you see something that you hated (or loved) let the rest of us know!
I’ll be yelling from my seat at Arrowhead this week, hoping very much for a Chiefs victory in this FINAL HOME GAME… its been an interesting year Chiefs let’s try to finish strong!

Thigpen wins the WTF? Award
Yes, you read that corectly… our very own Tyler Thigpen was nominated and WON this protegicous award! And no, it’s not what you think… here is a little bit about this award:
Since the Pro Bowl’s pretty much a “Who’s the most famous?”contest, I believe that the NFL needs an award to recognize guys who were once thought of as scrubs (if they were even thought of at all) and emerged from obscurity to have a fantastic year.
I call it the Who’s This Fellow? Award … or for short, the WTF? Award. Since the league has thus far rebuffed my attempts to establish the Vinny Testaverde Award, we’re taking another shot with this one.
You can get all of the rest of the story here: Tyler Thigpen wins WTF award.
Good job Thiggy!

Congrats! Two Chiefs make the Pro Bowl
I just wanted to say congratulations to Tony Gonzalez and Brian Waters for making the Pro Bowl this year.
Tony Gonzalez will be making his 10th consecutive appearance while Brian Waters will make his 4th appearance. As we all know Tony Gonzalez dominated all other TE’s this season (great comparison article at Arrowhead Pride) and Brian Waters help a line was worst in the NFL last season move up to being the 14th best rushing offense in the NFL.
Great work boys! Please continue to do your best and teach these younger guys about life in the NFL.
Go Chiefs!

Clark Hunt on Carl Peterson’s Resignation
Got a video here of Chiefs’ Owner Clark Hunt on Carl Peterson’s Resignation
What do you think?
If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!
Carl Peterson has resigned: The King is Gone
A short time ago I have learned that Kansas City Chiefs president and general manager Carl Peterson has resigned, effective at the end of the season.
Couresy of the Kansas City Star: Carl Peterson resigns as Chiefs general manager
Chiefs president/general manager Carl Peterson resigned today effective at the end of the season.
“On behalf of my family and the entire Kansas City Chiefs organization, I want to thank Carl for his two decades of service to the Chiefs,” Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said. “Both Carl and I agreed that immediately initiating the search for the next Chiefs general manager would be the best thing for the future of the organization, and he will be resigning following the 2008 season.’’
Hunt said the search for a new general manager will begin immediately. Vice President Denny Thum will serve as the Chiefs’ interim president and general manager.
I have some feelings on this, but I think I will gather them and report back later!
Have a good one Chiefs fans!

Monday Morning Thoughts…

Happy non-Victory Monday y’all… Hope you had a solid weekend.
Well, the Chiefs are back to breaking our hearts once again. Losing always sucks, but losing like that just blows hard. Honestly I wish I was surprised by that, but I wasn’t at all… it’s just how the Chiefs roll now I guess.
Tyler Thigpen: Thiggy had a pretty good game going19/28 171 with 1 TD and 1 INT. The INT was really a back breaker though and it was right after a Chargers turnover, when you get a gift in the NFL you need to cash in on that and not give the ball right back. With all of that said Thigpen is still looking like a possible QB of the future for the Chiefs.
Chiefs Defense: The defense was actually having a good day… until late in the game, when it mattered most. The Chiefs had some sacks in this game, caused turnovers and were holding their own, I don’t know what happened late but they need to fix this late game crap. If the Chiefs could actually stop somebody late in the game who knows how many more wins we could have this year. I really hope this doesn’t turn into a bad habit (if it hasn’t already).
Herm Edwards: Showed why his time management skills are not coveted (and probably never will be). He burned two timeouts way to early in the game and did not have them when he needed them. Having two (or even one) timeout on that final drive could have meant a closer field goal for Barth. I’m not saying he would have made it, but barely missing a 50-yarder when time expires tells me that if it was even 5 yards closer that might have hooked it.
Now some news about this site:
Check out this post on the Best part of going to Chiefs games now? and weigh in. In that article I explain why I can still swallow going to the games and would like to hear your reasons as well.
Well, that’s all for this Monday. Hope you guys have a great week!
