I just came across this video (from kcchiefs.com) that covers some of the new renovations at Arrowhead Stadium, including a new section called the VIP Club Level.

Looks pretty sweet to me, but makes me wonder how much $$ that cost to get access. Let’s us know what you think in the comment section below.
(having an issue with the video showing up below for some reason, but you can view the video here as well)

Former Chiefs GM/King Carl Peterson has found a new job as the chairman of the USA Football League. I think this could actually be a good fit for Mr. Peterson

Former Kansas City Chiefs executive Carl Peterson is the new chairman of USA Football. He replaces the late Jack Kemp.

In case you are wondering USA Football is the ‘national governing body of youth football’.

The group was endowed by the NFL and NFL Players Association in 2002. It hosts more than 100 football events annually, instructing coaches, players and game officials and providing resources for youth football league commissioners.

USA Football said Tuesday it will host a junior world championship from June 27-July 5 in Canton, Ohio.

According to USA Football these will be some of Peterson’s responsibilities:

Peterson will preside over USA Football’s board of directors and offer his insight toward USA Football initiatives, including:

  • Nearly 50 full-day “Coaching Schools” in more than 30 states to train volunteer youth football coaches
  • 40 nationwide meetings of youth football commissioners to offer insight and share best practices
  • Nearly 20 officiating camps and seminars nationwide to educate and recruit football officials
  • 12 three-day “Player Academies” conducted across the country to advance players’ skills, aged 9-14
  • Distribution of $500,000 in equipment grants for youth football leagues, based on merit and need
  • Distribution of $500,000 in volunteer youth football coach and volunteer background check subsidies
  • Creation of the USA Football Youth Football Rule Book & National Playing Standard, unifying the youth game
  • Author exclusive and innovative youth football-related research to further advance America’s favorite sport

I wish the best to Carl in his  new venture and to USA Football… Good Luck.

Carl Peterson final words and/or shots

Within the last week Carl Peterson has oficially said goodbye to role with the Chiefs. His final press conference can be seen here: VIDEO: Carl Peterson Final Press Conference

I must admit that I was really excited when I heard the news of ‘King Carl’ leaving, but I also realize that has done a lot of good for the Chiefs. In his first 10 years Carl was  a great leader for the Chiefs and the Chiefs were very successfull and for that I say ‘thank you Carl’.  As far as his last years in KC, it makes me wonder if he just doesn’t know when to say goodbye…

Now, as King Carl was saying his goodbye (in typical Carl Peterson fashion) he had to take one last shot at the media. I just laugh at this because we all know how Carl felt about the media, but Adam Teicher had a little something to say about this on his vlog:

VIDEO: Carl Peterson’s Parting Shot

The Star’s Adam Teicher says he wasn’t surprised that Carl Peterson, at his farewell news conference, took a swipe at the news media. He says Peterson thought the media “should have put on our skirts and been a cheerleader for the Chiefs.”

Lol…   If the Chiefs get a GM who is “media friendly” then what will the Star have to talk about regarding the Chiefs??   Hopefully the play on the field.

One good thing from Chiefs loss to Panthers

If you watched the “game” on Sunday you already know that not much good came out of the Chiefs 34-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers. One that thing that was good for the future of the team was the QB play.

I can hear you already “hhhWHHAAAT?!!?” and  “he said WHAT?” and yes that’s right, I said it. By having Damon Huard play so bad that they had to put in Thigpen for relief was a good thing for the future of the Chiefs. If Damon Huard would have went out and played a great game (win or lose) there would have been a QB controversy. Herm (and Carl) would have been in a tough spot, they would have been asking themselves this question:

Do we want to try to win now in what appears to be a wide open AFC West or give Croyle one lost shot and see if he can stay healthy and be our future QB?

While the Chiefs seem committed to this youth movement we all know that in Carl Peterson’s history he has always tried to win now. How do we know that he wouldn’t try to pull this again in one last “last ditch” effort to regain some respect (what little he has left).

So I would just like to say “Thank You” to Damon Huard for sucking it up last Sunday and allowing the Chiefs to move on. At least now when if Croyle gets hurt the Chiefs can finally move on and try something different.

I don’t mean to hate on Croyle, in fact I like what he brings to the table, but you can’t help a team win from the sidelines and the thing that the Chiefs need more than anything else if they want to buid a team that can contend is solid, consistant play from the quarterback position. A good OL wouldn’t hurt either…

Chiefs get there guy and have signed first-round DT Glenn Dorsey.

glenn dorsey ChiefsRIVER FALLS, Wis. (AP) — First-round draft pick Glenn Dorsey has agreed to contract terms with the Kansas City Chiefs and was expected at Saturday afternoon’s practice, The Associated Press has learned.

Dorsey, an All-American defensive tackle from LSU, was the fifth overall pick in the draft. A person who requested anonymity because no official announcement had been made said the deal included a guarantee of about $22 million.

The Chiefs have agreed to terms with 11 of their 12 draft picks. Still unsigned is tight end Michael Merritt, a seventh-round selection out of Central Florida.

I must say that Carl Peterson has really impressed me thus far with getting all the picks in pretty much on time.
Now here is a sneak peak of what we are getting. :)

Well, this is one of the two signed from the first round. Now it appears the Chiefs will have all but Glenn Dorsey and seventh-round TE Michael Merritt in on time for camp. I’ve heard the word on Merritt is that he has an injury and Chiefs don’t want to sign him until they can get him on the field.Branden Albert OL CHIEFS

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs have signed tackle Branden Albert, the second of the team’s two first-round draft picks, the team announced Thursday.

Financial details of the five-year agreement were not released.

The team appears far from an agreement with its other first-round pick, defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey. The team headed to camp Thursday.

The 6-foot-5, 316-pound Albert — the Chiefs’ 15th overall pick — started all 37 games he appeared in at Virginia.

Also unsigned is tight end Michael Merritt, a seventh-round pick out of Central Florida.

Now lets get that O-line working together, they need all the time they can get.

Rumor: Favre Wants to Come Back

July 11, 2008 by bigknoxy · 1 Comment

nflgreenbaypackersbrettfavre

After retiring from the game of football this last March Brett Favre feels that he still has something to offer.

Three days after a conference call with Green Bay Packers team officials on Tuesday in which quarterback Brett Favre emphatically expressed his desire to play in 2008, Favre on Friday formally asked for his contractual release from the Packers in a letter, sources close to Favre and the team said.

Favre is also claiming that the Packers almost forced him out.

When Favre was reminded by the Packers’ brass that it was in March when the quarterback said publicly and privately that he wasn’t 100 percent committed to football, sources said. Favre acknowledged his state of mind at the time, but added that he never felt he was a 100 percent committed in March of previous years, either. Favre felt he had to make a decision to retire because the Packers were pressing him for an answer, a source said.

So now it is Carl Peterson’s turn to decide if he wants to start talking, if Green Bay grants Favre ’s wish that is. As much as Favre has done for them you would think think could grant him his wish, but it’s still about business and it’s all about that $$.
