Man Crushes and Sports

Before I get onto some rules of the “man crush” I decided since recently there has been a lot of talk about man crushes involving Brett Favre I would start there.

One blogger goes on to confess his love for Brett Favre:

Dear Brett,I love you. And I always will. You taught me more about myself than I even knew existed. You earmarked each and every one of my formative years with amazing seasons, filled with excitement and thrills.

and goes on to say:

You cannot play for another team. It just isn’t right.
You have to give it everything you’ve got to convince the Packers to take you back or you need to stay retired. There is no room for anything in the middle.I’m fragile right now, Brett. I want you to know that I support you, but this is too painful to watch all this. So for now, I am going to try to avoid Sportscenter… let me know when this is settled.

Full letter here.

Another blogger has decided he just can’t take it anymore…

At one point, I might have married Brett Favre. Not that I am averse to the female gender, but, instead, why would I not want to spend the rest of my life with one of the most exciting NFL players and seemingly coolest guy ever?

and breaks up with Favre:

Today, I am breaking up with Brett.Relationships are built on trust, and Brett has violated that trust. Like any bad relationship, I should have recognized the signs long before it came to this point — the uncertainty of retirement before the 2007 season, how well he played last year, and how well the Packers played as a team last year. Love is blind, and when Brett broke down in tears at his retirement press conference, I took his word he was done for good.

The letter to Brett continues and ends with a “I don’t even want to be friends anymore”. Come on guys, let the man live his life!

Now for the Rules of the Man Crush (via ac)

  1. Your man crush does not have to play on a team that you cheer for.
  2. You can not cheer for your man crush when he is facing off against your favorite team NO MATTER WHAT.
  3. You can not become a fan of a team just because your man crush plays for them.
  4. There is a limit of having three man crushes per sport.
  5. You can rid yourself of a man crush for either on- or off-the-field (court/ice/pitch/etc.) conduct.
  6. A man crush is not a real crush.

So, what Chiefs players do you have man crushes on?

I am and have been a Chiefs fan my entire life. I went to my first game in 2004 and have been addicted ever since. At Arrowhead, "the home of the... CHIEFS", you quickly learn that game-day itself is the true experience, everything from the road trip, to the tailgating before the game, all the way until being one of the last to leave the parking lot is included. Go Chiefs!
