Does Tony Gonzalez want to be Traded?
I don’t know about you, but I have thought about this before and once the Chiefs started rebuilding I got even more worried that something like that could happen. Here is what Tony Gonzalez had to say about the possibility of being traded:[from Adam Schefter's Blog on nfl.com]
- Then, the question was posed to Gonzalez on Wednesday and he set the record straight. While it might not be the ideal scenario, he could see himself going to Chiefs management and requesting a trade to a Super-Bowl contender.
“Yeah. I definitely could, but I love being a Chief,” Gonzalez said Wednesday. “But if it was something where it was going to take three or four years or whatever before they get this thing right, I think it would be in their best interest to maybe see what they can get and send me off.
“But I love being a Chief and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else at this point. At the end of this season, hopefully I don’t have to ask that. Hopefully we get this thing turned around. I’ve got a family now. I came here when I just turned 21, so this is home. That’s where I’m at right now with that.”
I would really HATE to see Tony G go to another team, but do we owe this to him? The man is one of my all-time favorite Chiefs so I don’t know what to say about this… what do you guys think?

That would b a tough break for the chiefs, they are trying to rebuild their team so hopefully they can get to a Super Bowl someday , but unfortuenately it doesnt happen overnite.
The NFL and all of it’s fans want instantaneous success and change, too bad it never works that way. Wake Up people, it takes time to build a Super Bowl team & more time when you clean house and start from scratch!!!
Tony is one of the greatest tight ends in the game, and I could understand him wanting a Super Bowl ring before he retires, I don’t see him getting it as a chief……they need more time.
So many people (fans & NFL owners ) think you can just bring in a bunch of new players or even 1 and they’ll get you there overnite, but in reality it takes time. John Elway wasnt very good his first few years , it took time.
I’ve been saying this about Gonzo for the past week. If we want to get Brian Brohm from Green Bay, where are they weak? They have a great team but Donald Lee at TE, could definitely use an upgrade there. Trade Gonzo to them, sad to say but he deserves it. They have a great chance to make a run at the Super Bowl the next few years and he should have a ring to solidify his career as the best TE ever. We could get Brohm and possibly even a draft pick from them, Gonzo would get his chance and we could get a potential QB for the future. They need some other help too, at CB since Al Harris is out now and/or a veteran backup QB, we just happen to have both in Surtain and Huard. It’s a feesible senario that could benefit everyone. Could you imagine Green Bay’s offense with a hall of fame TE also? They could be very impressive. For Gonzo’s sake I hope the team lets him go to a competitor and polish off his career in the right way…with a championship.
