Chiefs sign QB Quinn Gray
Well, the Chiefs have finally signed a QB. I was hoping we could ink Culpepper, but this will work… I guess. Not like we have that many choices.
- The Chiefs signed quarterback Quinn Gray and he was to be at practice with the Chiefs today.
Gray formerly played with Jacksonville. He was one of two quarterbacks to workout for the Chiefs on Tuesday. Bruce Gradkowski was the other.
Brodie Croyle will be placed on the injured-reserve list and have surgery soon to repair torn knee ligaments [KC Star]
Well, on a positive note his name is easy to spell.

I’m happy with this. He had quite a bit of success in Jacksonville and we’re trying to do about the same thing here, strong running game and conservative passing attack. Only difference is he’ll be playing behind half an o-line here. He’s big, 6′ 3″ 255 lbs, and pretty mobile, especially for his size. He should be able to avoid the rush better than Huard and have a little more of a level head on his shoulders than “happy feet” Thigpen. He is only 29 also, so if he does work out he could be around for a few years to tutor a draft pick. Culpepper would have been OK but it doesn’t sound like that was ever much of a possibility and he is definitely past his prime. Gray is of prime age, but might not ever amount to much, either way at least it doesn’t cost us anything to find out. I’m certain he would play this weekend but hopefully can be ready in a couple of weeks for a home game.
ha may be culpepper did not want to play behind a subpar line the chiefs had a pro offensive line second only to the steel curtain in pitsburg remember Terry and company
@Raymond: LOL! Yeah, I wouldn’t really blame him too much if that was his reason.
@Ryan: This move is growing on me more and I let it marinate. One thing that worries me though is that he only has 4 starts. You would think that if he were good enough he would have started more than 4 games by the age of 29. I hope it works out though.
Croyle suffered another season ending injury .That’s a shame.
He started his career in the World League and led (can’t remember the team name) to a World Bowl Title in 2003 before coming to the NFL. I think he’ll be a decent pickup overall.
