Trade Update: Tony Gonzalez still with the Chiefs

I have not heard anything for the last little bit and now that the trade deadline has come and gone I think it is safe to say that Tony Gonzalez is still a Chief. Whew…
< Here is a link that confirms(Gonzalez stays with the Chiefs) >
I understand Tony G’s point of view here and the Chiefs could definitely use all the draft picks they can get, but deep down I’m a somewhat selfish who is happy that Gonzalez is still with the team. Sure, I could have dealt with it, and understood, if he was gone, but this makes it so much easier.
I wish the best of luck Tony, you and the rest of your Chiefs will definitely need it the remainder of the season.
What do you guys think about this whole situation? (or any other Chiefs that didn’t get traded)

This is kind of bitter-sweet as far as I’m concerned. We could have definitely used the extra draft picks and Tony deserved to play for a contender. I think the odds of him being traded after this season are higher. Teams usually don’t get proper compensation for an in-season trade (except the Lions! A 1st, 3rd and 6th - they gave back a 7th - for Roy Williams!?!? OMG! I would have been pissed if we would have paid that much for him). The odds of getting “fair market value” for a player in an off-season trade are substantially higher. Either way, Tony gets his well deserved ovation at Arrowhead this week now and then can fight through the remainder of the season with the rest of us. Hopefully they can move him to a serious contender next spring before the draft.
Tell me what you're thinking...
