Training Camp Recap: The Final Practice-Thursday, 8/14 Practice
Well, it has been fun following the Chiefs through training camp at River Falls. I really wonder if this will be their last year there. Personally I would love if they did it locally so I could go watch them whenever I wanted, as apposed to taking time off to plan a trip to River Falls (which I would like to do at some point if they do continue to have camp there).
Anyway, here is some of the stuff that went down in the Chiefs final practice of the year at River Falls:
- The Chiefs ran 24 plays of team work and a much less intensive pace than they’ve used lately. Some highlights included a nice dump off pass from QB Tyler Thigpen to RB Kolby Smith … both Smith and RB Jackie Battle took direct snaps from center, and the defense is catching on as neither run broke for big yardage … [Bob Gretz]
Are the Chiefs working KR Sams at WR now?
- KR B.J. Sams has worked in individual drills at WR, but got little work in team action. But he caught a nice pass from QB Damon Huard on a third-and-7 play that moved the sticks. Sams beat CB Tyron Brackenridge [Bob Gretz]
Don’t forget about the new rule changes guys!
- a QB Brodie Croyle pass to WR Dewayne Bowe deep in the end zone was caught by Bowe, but he couldn’t get his feet down. Bowe cried that he was pushed out, but the head coach reminded him that a rules change this year eliminated the force out. [Bob Gretz
But Bowe made up for it later in practice:
- Plays of the Day: WR Dwayne Bowe made several solid catches in today’s practice, including a touchdown in the back of the end zone on a pass by QB Brodie Croyle. Bowe tip-toed the back line as he was shoved by a defender, ever mindful of the new revision to the “push rule.” The WR got two feet in bounds and counted the TD for the offense. [kcchiefs.com]
