Chiefs are in jeopardy of having to play 16 road games this season
Right now this is just a rumor (courtesy of 810 Sports in KC) but here it is:
I was listening to 810 over lunch and they started saying something about the construction company that is doing the renovations at Arrowhead. They said if the company and it’s workers don’t come to an agreement by March 30 at midnight that the union workers are going to go on strike.
They also said that if the strike happens and is a certain length of time (something like I heard everything from 45 to 60 to 90 days) that Arrowhead Stadium would not be ready for the open of the 2009 NFL season. A source then told 810 that the Chiefs would then play all of their games on the road this season and went on further to say that the Chiefs were asking permission to play all of their games away just in case.
I’m not pretending to understand what is going on between the union and the company, but as a season ticket holder this would suck.
Remember this is just a rumor at the moment and hasn’t been confirmed by anyone except 810.
What do you think Chiefs fans?
UPDATE: Here is a link to my buddies over at Arrowhead Pride who are saying the same thing.
So to summarize:
The rumor is that the carpenters and steel workers union will go on strike starting at midnight on Tuesday, April 1.
If the strike lasts more than 60-90 days the Chiefs are in jeopardy of having to play all 16 games on the road next year.
