Chiefs gettin’ Thiggy with it: Three Different Starting QBs in three games
As many of you have probably already heard, Tyler Thigpen will be starting for the Chiefs this Sunday when the Chiefs take on the Atlanta Falcons. This means that for the fourth time in NFL history a team will start three different QBs in the first three weeks of a season. Here is the complete list:
| Chiefs | 2008 | Brodie Croyle, Damon Huard, Tyler Thigpen | 0-2 |
| Rams | 1976 | Pat Haden, Ron Jaworski, James Harris | 10-3-1 |
| Browns | 1988 | Bernie Kosar, Gary Danielson, Mike Pagel | 10-6 |
| Jaguars | 1997 | Mark Brunell, Rob Johnson, Steve Matthews | 11-5 |
What I find funny about this is the other three teams that did this finished the season with winning records. Could this be a sign? I hope so. (I can still be optimistic, right?)
In reality the Chiefs will probably break that mold, and while we have the chance, I say go for a new record Chiefs. Next week we can start Ingle Martain and be the first team to ever start four different QBs to begin the season. If you wanted to be really creative you could even throw Marques Hagans out there for game five and make if FIVE different starters in the first five games of a season.
Brodie should be back by that time anyway…
