Chargers could be most important game of the year
At this point in the year I would say that playing the San Diego Chargers this Sunday at Arrowhead is our biggest game of the year.
The Chargers have already seen the ‘ArrowSpread’ offense (I wish I came up with this phrase but the credit goes to the guys over at Arrowhead Pride I believe, good one guys) and will now have a second chance to stop it.
Now, I don’t like to base things off of one game, but one would assume that if the Chargers come in with a gameplan to stop the spread and do it successfully then that means that the spread offense can be stopped so to speak (although one could argue that we have been losing games already so what’s the difference). What does that say about the concept of the spread offense in the NFL, and further more college QB’s that ran the spread in the college transitioning to the pro game?
Honestly I don’t think this game will answer this question as much as we would like, esp with the Chargers have a defense that ranks 26th ( I think), but it could be the first step to an answer.
I think the Chiefs will still have success running this offense this Sunday and in the future, but I am going to love watching this play out because if we do decide to go spread for next season that is going to change everything from the players you scout to the free agents you pick up and possibly the coaching staff you keep/fire. Good luck Chiefs, I hope you get this figured out.
Go Chiefs!

Tyler Thigpen and the Spread Offense
I decided to try and figure out what Tyler Thigpen’s QB rating is ever since they started running the spread offense (his first start against the Jets). I’ve always felt his QB was skewed from that first game against Oakland and the start against the Falcons with that old offense but I had no idea it was THIS different! For the record, his QB rating for the entire season is 76.9, which isn’t great. But check out these numbers since the spread has been employed:117 for 193 with 1347 yards and 11 TDs and 4 INTs for a QB rating of 92.0As it stands right now, that would be 7th best in the NFL and above Cutler.
Thanks for sharing James.
