Game DayThread - Game 16: Kansas City Chiefs Vs. Cincinnati Bengals

So here is the final game of the year… game 16:

The Chiefs are 2-13 after their stupid loss to the Dolphins at home. As far as the NFL games this could be the weakest game on the schedule, but this game actually could  have  great implications for the playoffs division race 2009 NFL Draft (at least for the Chiefs).

For the Chiefs to have a chance in this game  one of the keys for them will be to make sure their running game gets on track early (and if we get a lead RUN THE BALL and the clock) and Thigpen needs to keep playing like he has been since we went to the spread (since going to the spread Thiggy’s QB rating is pretty good). Just don’t blow it if you get a lead, Chiefs.

One thing I am worried about in this game is the fact that the Chiefs are playing on the road… I read that the Chiefs are 1-9 against the spread on the road in their last ten games… BTW the Chiefs are a three point underdog this week.

(Slipping on the RED colored glasses) Looking at this from a positive perspective, if the Chiefs can get that running game going, cash in their red zone and TO opportunites, and the defense stops them every onnce in a while I think we have a shot here. The Chiefs MUST win the turnover battle and CASH IN on the TO’s they do create if they want to stand a chance. That’s a lot of “IFs”, but the main thing I am worrid about is the 2nd half. IF the Chiefs actually jump out to lead I want to see them actually close a game out… is it Thiggy, Herm, or a combination of the two that just can’t keep a lead?

As always please post any comments, pictures, or whatever in the comment section below before, during or after the game. If you see something that you hated (or loved) let the rest of us know!

I’ll be yelling from my seat on the couch this week, hoping very much for a Chiefs victory in this FINAL GAME… ( I think I want a win… but a higher draft pick than the Rams would be nice too)  its been an interesting year Chiefs let’s try to finish strong!

GO CHIEFS!!

Hey al!

I hope you all had a great Holiday and that if you are like me you are still enjoying your time off! :)

I know that I have been slacking here, not posting anything new since the last game (OUCH I know…) so I thought I would try to catch up a little bit. I did NOT forget about you guys, just got a little busy in the holiday hoopla… and yes I’m a last minute shopper.

Arrowhead Pride did a nice piece that show that the Chief actually are going to avoid most of the All-Time Worsts records they were on pace to set at Thanksgiving.

The Chiefs Promoted LB Weston Dacus From Practice Squad to the active roster.

Bob Gretz told us the search for the Chiefs new GM has offically began:

Chiefs Chairman of the Board Clark Hunt held at least one interview with a potential GM candidate early this week.  The person and location of the meeting is unknown, but the process of interviewing and gathering information is very definitely underway.

Gretz is also keeping a list of possible GM candidates for the Chiefs.

Adam over at Arrowhead Addict gave his 10 reasons why the Chiefs are cooler than the Bungholes Bengals.

Looking to the game vs Cincy:

The Bengals are 3 point favorates at home vs the Chiefs and here is a breakdown by point-spreads.com.

Chiefs Breakdown: Kansas City assured themselves of a last place finish in the AFC West with last Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins. The Chiefs led Miami at half-time 28-24, but scored just three second half points in falling 31-38 at Arrowhead. Kansas City is now 2-13 and has lost their last three games by an average of five points.

The Chiefs are 1-6 on the road, averaging a meager 14.8 points per game outside the state of Missouri.

Bengals Breakdown: Cincinnati, despite their 3-11 record, does not have a total lock on the AFC North cellar. Last weekend’s victory over the Browns moved the Bengals to within a game of Cleveland, and should Cincy win this Sunday and the Browns lose, Marvin Lewis and company will move to the third spot in the division standings. What a small consolation prize.

The Bengals, winners of their last two games, are 2-4-1 at home this year and averaging just 12.3 points per game at Paul Brown Stadium.

NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Chiefs are 1-9 straight up in their last 10 games as a road underdog.

Well, I think that pretty much catches us up! Lets go Chiefs tomorrow at Cincy!
