Chiefs get there guy and have signed first-round DT Glenn Dorsey.

glenn dorsey ChiefsRIVER FALLS, Wis. (AP) — First-round draft pick Glenn Dorsey has agreed to contract terms with the Kansas City Chiefs and was expected at Saturday afternoon’s practice, The Associated Press has learned.

Dorsey, an All-American defensive tackle from LSU, was the fifth overall pick in the draft. A person who requested anonymity because no official announcement had been made said the deal included a guarantee of about $22 million.

The Chiefs have agreed to terms with 11 of their 12 draft picks. Still unsigned is tight end Michael Merritt, a seventh-round selection out of Central Florida.

I must say that Carl Peterson has really impressed me thus far with getting all the picks in pretty much on time.
Now here is a sneak peak of what we are getting. :)

My buddy James wrote up a little article on the Glenn Dorsey contract negotiations and I thought you all might enjoy reading it.

So it appears as though the Glenn Dorsey contract negotiations are stalled due to his agent wanting to wait until more players around him are signed. “His agent indicated Monday night that he was waiting for more signings to happen, even though the first four picks are done,” said Carl Peterson. As of Friday, at 2:00PM the number 1-4 picks as well as the number 6 pick have all signed with their teams. You would think that this would make it pretty simple for the Chiefs to get something done with Dorsey by meeting somewhere in the middle of the number 4 and 6 deal but apparently Dorsey’s agent Joel Stegal still wants more information prior to beginning serious negotiations with the Chiefs.

Peterson is holding out hope that the recent signing of Gholston will convince Stegal to begin serious negotiations. “And frankly, when No. 6 (Vernon Gholston of the Jets) just signed, maybe that will make a difference.” I think it’s safe to say that we all hope it will make the difference. With the team in full rebuilding mode, all rookies need to get in as soon as possible to get ready for the season.
