Monday Morning Thoughts…

Happy non-Victory Monday y’all… Hope you had a solid weekend. I know I had a very nice (5-day) weekend!
Well, the Chiefs suck and I for one and just glad that the suffering is finally over. Losing always sucks, but losing like that just blows hard. Honestly I wish I was surprised by that, but I wasn’t at all… it’s just how the Chiefs roll now I guess.
Tyler Thigpen: Thiggy play yesterday left more to be desired, but if you look at his body of work as a whole you have to be happy with what he was able to accomplish this season. I truly believe that without Thiggy at QB this team might even won one more game and probably would have actually set a TON more of the all-time worst records that they managed to avoid
Chiefs Defense: The defense just sucks. With the improvement that the offense is shown I am leaning toward spending our top choice on a defense player (if one is there that is worth the pick). This defense needs help and I will be curious to see what Mr. Hunt and King Carl whoever is the GM will do to address this glaring weakness.
Herm Edwards: Odds are that we just saw Herm coach his last game as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs… I like you as a person, motivator and comedian Herm, but not so much as a head coach anymore. I wish you the best wherever you end up.
Now some news about this site:
I have been slacking off on creating post here and plan to start amping up more original content as the playoffs are here (no Chiefs) as well as the 2009 NFL draft. This should be a fun draft to follow as the Chiefs have not had a pick this high in a long time.
Well, that’s all for this Monday. Hope you guys have a great week!
Go Chiefs!

Happy non-Victory Monday y’all… Hope you had a solid weekend.
Well, the Chiefs are back to breaking our hearts once again. Losing always sucks, but losing like that just blows hard. Honestly I wish I was surprised by that, but I wasn’t at all… it’s just how the Chiefs roll now I guess.
Tyler Thigpen: Thiggy had a pretty good game going19/28 171 with 1 TD and 1 INT. The INT was really a back breaker though and it was right after a Chargers turnover, when you get a gift in the NFL you need to cash in on that and not give the ball right back. With all of that said Thigpen is still looking like a possible QB of the future for the Chiefs.
Chiefs Defense: The defense was actually having a good day… until late in the game, when it mattered most. The Chiefs had some sacks in this game, caused turnovers and were holding their own, I don’t know what happened late but they need to fix this late game crap. If the Chiefs could actually stop somebody late in the game who knows how many more wins we could have this year. I really hope this doesn’t turn into a bad habit (if it hasn’t already).
Herm Edwards: Showed why his time management skills are not coveted (and probably never will be). He burned two timeouts way to early in the game and did not have them when he needed them. Having two (or even one) timeout on that final drive could have meant a closer field goal for Barth. I’m not saying he would have made it, but barely missing a 50-yarder when time expires tells me that if it was even 5 yards closer that might have hooked it.

Check out this post on the Best part of going to Chiefs games now? and weigh in. In that article I explain why I can still swallow going to the games and would like to hear your reasons as well.

Happy non-Victory Monday y’all… Hope you had a solid weekend.
Well, the Chiefs are back to their losing ways after leaving Mile High with 24-17 loss at the hands of the Donkeys… man I hate the Broncos.
Tyler Thigpen: Thiggy had another solid day going 17/32 for 187 with one TD and zero interceptions. Thigpen also nearly tied the game coming up about two inches short of the goal line. I see nothing wrong with Thigpen’s game and each week he seems to show that he could be the QB of the future.
Chiefs Defense: The Chiefs defense held Cutler to under 300 yards passing, but that wasn’t nearly enough. The defense needs to be able to make a stop when it has to and clearly they are not to this point yet. When you a team pinned DEEP in their own territory you HAVE to make that stop to at least give your offense a chance to win that game. Derrick Johnson cooled off some after his super star showing last week… and he dropped another sure INT.. (sigh). And for a second straight week I have got to give some props to Maurice “the new Brackenridge” Leggett. He played a very solid game yesterday with that pick six, great job man!
Now some news about this site:
Not much. I would tell you to check out this post on Thigpen’s stats since the Chiefs started the spread offense (courtesy of my buddy James, thanks yo).Tyler Thigpen and the Spread Offense

Monday Morning Thoughts…

Happy Victory Monday y’all… Hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend.
The Chiefs managed to find a way to score 20 points in a game and still get beat, er win? This may surprise me even more that the Chiefs “only” scored 20 points and still managed to pull out a win than last week when they scored 31 and found a way to lose. Either way I’ll take a win here.
Tyler Thigpen: If you would have told me before the game that Thigpen would throw for 162 yards, no TD’s and one INT then I would have thought for sure we would lose. This is great though, Thigpen showed that for one, he could actually win a game (something Croyle never could do) and two, that he could win a game without his best performance. These are two qualities that are good to have in a QB.
Chiefs Defense: The Chiefs defense actually played a decent game. The main thing being they didn’t give out in the 2nd half/4th QTR like they have been for the last I don’t know how many weeks. Now, I know this was the Raiders, but you have start somewhere, right? Derrick Johnson showed up this week looking like a super star… I sure with Gunther could get him to play that like all the time. Got to give some props to Maurice “the new Brackenridge” Leggett. He played a very solid game yesterday and as much as he gets picked on we will need more of that in the future.
Overall good week Chiefs fans, enjoy the victory week and in case you still don’t believe it, YES, we actually won! :O
Now some news about this site:
As you know by now, I have changed the look of the site here at KC Chiefs Football dot com blog. Of the people that did leave feedback all of them seemed to like the new look (as do I) so I think we are going to roll with it. Also, the loading time should be much better on the site as a few adjustments were made after I did the last Monday Morning Thoughts… I actually did a post a post about the changes that can be viewed here:Changes to KC Chiefs Football.com blog

Monday Morning Thoughts…

Happy Turkey week Monday y’all…
The Chiefs managed to find a way to score 31 points in a game and still get blown out… how does this crap happen? While I am happy with the progress of the offense the defense is just flat out horrible right now. I thought yesterday’s game was suppose to be a step back in the right direction since the Chiefs were getting a lot of their injured players back… obviously I was DEAD WRONG.
Tyler Thigpen: He had a couple picks which lead directly to Bill’s scoring drives, but also had three TD passes. We all knew he would do this is some game soon, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Thigpen didn’t let the INTs get to him and came back out to let the Chiefs down the field for some more scores. I think that is important thing for a young QB to have. Thigpen should be just fine.
Gunther Cunningham: If you have been reading my blog you know that I have been talking about the Gunther situations for a while. Some of you questioned it, but I am just curious how you feel about it a month later while getting the same, if not worse results. The Chiefs gave up a franchise worst 54 points to the BILLS! The Bills also were allowed to gain 444 yards. Like most others I am having a hard time finding a scenario where Gunther will be back for next season.
Is it a coincidence that as I am typing this that Leona Lewis’s “It’ll all get better in time” is playing on the radio?? I sure hope she is right…
Now some news about this site:
As I’m sure you have noticed by now (since you are here reading this) I have changed the theme here at KC Chiefs Football Blog. What do you guys think? Do you like the change? Do you like the old one better?
Also, one of the things I was trying to do was to improve the loading time of the site. So I made a few adjustments so hopefully the site loads a little faster for you now. This seems to be a really weird problem as only some people seem to have this problem. Either way I would really like your feedback so I know where to go from here. (Leave a comment on this page or you can hit up through the contact page).

Happy Monday everyone…
This game was exciting for a while but still ended with the Chiefs losing to the Saints 30-20. This one was over much earlier than in previous weeks.
(I’m gonna sing at least one more time) “Gettin’ Thiggy with it, nah-nah nah nah nah-nah nah!” Tyler Thigpen played another good game yesterday. Thigpen did have the one late INT but when its fourth down you have to try to make a play because you are going to give the ball back anyway, so I don’t really blame him too much for that one (although I wish he could have got more on it as Bowe did have the CB beat). He gave the Chiefs a chance to win and that is all you can really ask for.
Chiefs QB Situation: I’m getting a Thigpen jersey!! Okay, maybe not (yet) but so far each new game has helped Thigpen raise his chances to be the Chiefs answer at QB, at least for next year. The rest of the year will tell…
BTW I did actually see a guy with a Thigpen jersey on at the game yesterday, he jumped on early, I hope it was for the right reasons.
BIG PROBLEM FOR THE CHIEFS: Pass rush. The Chiefs need to figure out how to get some pressure on the QB. If they don’t pressure on the QB it doesn’t matter how good out two “Brandon’s” are because even the best corners can’t cover someone forever. Right now a pass rushing DE looks like it would be a great choice with our first pick next year. (Right now I’m still sticking with DE or MLB)
Now some news about this site:
For now we are putting the Brick Hits Podcast on hold. This doesn’t mean they are gone forever (unless you want them to be) but for now it is “taking a break and seeing other people”. I am trying to get Brick to do a weekly article for us here so maybe I can get him going on that this week.
Well, that is all for this Monday morning. I hope you all have a great week and that we can see a Chiefs victory next Sunday.

Happy Monday everyone…
This game went much different than most probably expected but still ended with the Chiefs losing to the Bucs 30-27. I still feel some encouragement but a loss is still a loss.
(I’m gonna sing for the 2nd week in a row) “Gettin’ Thiggy with it, nah-nah nah nah nah-nah nah!” Tyler Thigpen played a great game again yesterday. He didn’t have a lot of yards, but threw one TD, caught a TD pass and had ZERO interceptions. He gave the Chiefs a chance to win and that is all you can really ask for.
Chiefs QB Situation: Count me as one of those people that was impressed that Thiggy played well for two weeks in a row, but still wants to see more. If Tyler Thigpen comes out next week at San Diego and plays like this again, I might be jumping to get on that bandwagon.
At this point I still say continue to look at QB’ in the draft, but keeping it mind that if Thigpen finishes out the year like he has been playing the last two games, then we may not need to look at one at the top of the draft. In my opinion the Chiefs needs to draft a QB in the 2009 NFL draft regardless of how Thigpen plays, but if he plays well we may not need to draft a QB until around the middle rounds, unless you think that “franchise” guy is there, then you take him regardless.
The Chiefs also had a good day running the football as they finished with 183 yards against a tough Bucs defense. Overall this game showed me what the Chiefs can be when they get consistent QB and offensive line play.
BIG PROBLEM FOR THE CHIEFS: Defense. The Chiefs need to figure out how to stop somebody. I know they had injuries at the CB position, but good teams find a way to win even with injuries. Also, if the defensive line could get some pressure on the QB that help out those corners (and the rest of the defense) a lot.
Now some news about this site:
Yesterday I finally decided that I would provide you something that you can’t find everywhere and wrote an article about our game day experience that covered everything from us pulling into the parking lot until the time we left. I figured that since I am actually a season ticket holder to the Chiefs and make it to every home game that some of you might like know what goes on from Arrowhead from someone who was actually there, especially since I know not all you can make it to the games (and no that does not make you any less of a fan). Anywho, you can find that here:Chiefs vs Bucs: Report from Arrowhead
Last week we got off track and did not released a new episode of Brick Hits, but don’t worry a new episode should be recorded and released within the next few days for your listening pleasure.
Well, that is all for this Monday morning. I hope you all have a great week and that we can see a Chiefs victory next Sunday.

Happy Monday everyone…
This game went much different that I expected but still ended with the Chiefs losing to the Jets 28-24. I feel more encouraged than last week, but a loss is still a loss.
Gettin’ Thiggy with it, nah-nah nah nah nah-nah nah! Tyler Thigpen played a great game yesterday. He went 25 of 36 for 280 yards, 2 TD’s and ZERO interceptions. He gave the Chiefs a chance to win and that is all you can really ask for.
Chiefs QB Situation: Count me as one of those people that think the Chiefs still have QB issues. I will jump on the Thiggy bandwagon once he starts playing consistently, and by consistently I don’t mean he has to play every game like the Jets game but he should give the Chiefs a chance to win and not cost them the game, like he did in Atlanta.
At this point I am still saying bring in Culpepper for a workout. If he passes the physical and will come to the Chiefs with the understanding that he can COMPETE for the starting QB job then sign him up. He is still most likely an upgrade over any QB we currently have on the roster
One of the things that really affected the game more than people think is the injury to Jamaal Charles. He had 5 rushes for 45 and looked good while doing it. He was a spark in the offense and it seemed to me that once he went out the running game went in the crapper.
BIG PROBLEM FOR THE CHIEFS: Giving up the big play. The Chiefs have a bad habit of allowing 50-60+ yard TD runs and they need to fix this immediately. Also, don’t forget the Chiefs Defense still gave up 420 yards, that’s a lot of yards and for a defense that has been building for 3 years it should be better than this by now. Last week I was calling for Gunther’s head and I still think it should be considered.
Now some news about this site:
Last week we got back on track and released a new episode of Brick Hits. In Brick Hits: Episode 11 - Podcast Brick and I talked about the Chiefs loss to the Titans, previewed the Chiefs vs Jets game, and named a “Tool of the week”. Check it out to find out who last week’s tool was.
Yesterday right after the game we decided that we wanted to talk about it a little bit, so Brick and I sat down for a short post-game show, find out what we thought about the Chiefs/Jets game here:Brick Hits Special Edition- Chiefs vs Jets Post Game.
Guess who is back? Janson wrote another article for KC Chiefs Football Blog and it was great. Don’t forget to check it out here:The Final Whistle - Post Game Thoughts: Chiefs vs. Jets

Monday Morning Thoughts…
Happy Monday everyone… Well, this just SUCKS.
The Chiefs had another horrible game this weekend, losing to the Titans 34-10. These types of losses are quickly becoming the norm for the Chiefs. It just gets harder to watch every week.
The Chiefs rushing offense was pretty much M.I.A. yesterday as they had 17 carries for 58 yards. Anyways, that is just one of the many things that sucked for the Chiefs yesterday and we will definitely talk more regarding this.
Brodie Croyle: Many said that Croyle may not make it out of the Titans game without getting hurt, and they were right. Croyle suffered a knee injury that will keep him out the rest of the season and means that he probably took his last snap as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. I have always said that he needs to be available to help the team, but you can’t help but feel for the guy. He is still a human being and he has tried hard to prepare and help this team the best he can. It’s a shame the way he keeps getting injured.
LJ didn’t play against the Titans and just like I guessed it didn’t seem to matter. The Chiefs, for the second game in a row, had 17 rushing attempts and minimal yardage. Against Carolina the average rush was something like 2.1 yards and this week against the Titans it was 3.4, so we actually did a little bit better without LJ, but not enough to make a difference in my opinion.
I do have one more question about this game: WHAT THE CRAP IS WRONG WITH CHIEFS RUSHING DEFENSE??? It is time for something to change (for now I’m strictly talking about the defensive side of the ball only) and that may start with Gunther. I really like the fire Gunther can (or used to) bring, but as one caller on the post game show said yesterday, the only thing Gunther seems good at anymore is his ability to use curse words.
Even for the hardcore supportive fans, is it time to ask for people’s heads?
Sorry I kind of went on a rant there. Now some news about this site:
Last week we decided not to release a new Brick Hits. It was the bye week and I just decided to give Brick a much non-deserved day off. Because of the backlash we received from not releasing a new podcast last week (ha ha) we will jump back on the horse this week and let out emotions run high and discuss the Chiefs. We will be talking about the Chiefs loss to the Titans of course, preview next week’s game aginst the Jets, and then name a tool of the week. Give us a try and let us know what you think, I would love to get feedback from any listeners to let us know how good/bad we are doing.
Well, that is all for this Monday morning. I hope you all have a great week and that we can see a Chiefs victory next Sunday.

Happy Monday everyone… Well, we are back to sucking this week.
The Chiefs had a horrible game this weekend, losing to the Panthers 34-0. The Chiefs rushing offense was M.I.A. yesterday as they had 17 carries and averaged 2.1 yards on those attempts. Anyways, that is just one of the many things that sucked for the Chiefs yesterday and we will definitely talk more regarding this.
One great thing that happen yesterday is we picked up a new member to the team here at KC Chiefs Football Blog. I would like you all to welcome Janson to our community. He wrote his first article for the site yesterday (great job Janson), which included his post game thoughts about the Chiefs/Panthers game. You can check that out here:The Final Whistle - Post Game Thoughts: Chiefs vs. Panthers
If you missed this game… for one, how did you know that this Chiefs team would show up? And two, you didn’t miss anything at all and I mean that literally… the Chiefs scored ZERO points.
Just like every game there were positives and negatives in this game for the Chiefs and this week with the negatives definitely outweigh the positives. You can see what I say about that when I write my Game 5 Chiefs vs. Panthers- What I think… article. Normally I would have this done, but I am still trying to figure out something I liked about the game…
LJ, was welcomed back last week and had 7 yards this week. Hopefully he doesn’t go off like he did before about being phased out of the offense, although at this time I’m not sure how I feel about this. I will take a deeper look as the season goes on.
Now some news about this site:
Last week we released a new episode of Brick Hits. In Brick Hits: Episode 9 - Podcast Brick and I talked about our likes/dislikes from the Chiefs/Bronco game, previewed the Chiefs vs Panthers, and we unveiled our “Tool of the Week” We think this one was our best one yet. If you have listened please leave us a comment about what you thought. We are trying to bring you something you can enjoy and would love any suggestions that you might have for us to make the show better.
As usual a new Brick Hits will be released on Tuesday or Wednesday this week and I encourage all of you to give it a listen and let us know what you think. This week’s broadcast should interesting and we have a lot to talk about with the latest lackluster performance and the upcoming bye week. Also, as usual we will name a Tool of the Week.
Well, that is all for this Monday morning. I hope you all have a great week and that we can see a Chiefs victory this week ( I sure hope we can win in the Bye week).
