Monday Morning Thoughts…

Happy Monday to all!!  Man, I have not been this excited on a Monday since…  uh… I honestly don’t know.

:)

The Chiefs had a great game this weekend, beating the Broncos 33-19 (Arena League Style). The Chiefs rushing offense was great, totaling up over 200 yards and averaging 6.5 per attempt is no joke, even if the Broncos have one of the worst D’s in league. Anyways, I thought their rushing defense was suppose to be okay and the pass defense was what was killing them. Oh well. But yeah, you can check out my initial reaction to the game here:Chiefs beat up Broncos - and I am PUMPED!!

If you missed this game and you are a Chiefs fan… WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?  (LOL) Naw, I know what you were thinking. Something like “Undefeated Broncos versus win-less Chiefs, what do you think is going to happen?” Well, I would just like to point out that you missed a great game and one that was SO FUN to attend with my fellow Chiefs fans.

Just like every game there were positives and negatives in this game for the Chiefs and this week the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. You can see what I said about that here:Game 4 Chiefs vs. Broncos- What I think…

LJ, welcome back!  Almost 200 yards rushing and two TD’s is great, and it also worked out VERY WELL for my fantasy team (which also contains Brett Favre, so yeah it was a big week for me with over 100 points).  Don’t look now, but LJ is third in the NFL in rushing yards.

Now some news about this site:

As for as the podcast last week we released a new episode of Brick Hits. In Brick Hits: Episode 8 - Podcast Brick and I talked about our likes/dislikes from the Chiefs/Falcons game, previewed the Chiefs vs Broncos, and we unveiled our “Tool of the Week” If you have listened please leave us a comment about what you thought. We are trying to bring you something you can enjoy and would love any suggestions that you might have for us to make the show better.

As usual a new Brick Hits will be released on Tuesday or Wednesday this week and I encourage all of you to give it a listen and let us know what you think. This week’s broadcast should be a lot of fun since we get to talk about a win for the first time this year, which should work out better for all of us. We’ll have more fun talking about it and should love getting to hear some good news about the Chiefs! Also, as usual we will preview the Carolina game and  name a Tool of the Week.

Well, that is all for this Monday morning. I hope you all have a great week and we can see another Chiefs victory. Oh, and don’t forget to talk crap on a Donkey fan at some point today. Isn’t it great that is was us who knocked them off their high horse? Ahhhh….

Go Chiefs!

Happy Monday…   OK, I tried. Now let’s get to the game.

It is a frustrating Monday for anyone who watches Chiefs games anymore. It is getting close to the “Train wreck” scenario where you know what it going to happen, yet you just can’t look away.

The Chiefs sucked it again this past weekend. Losing to the Oakland Raiders and Atlanta Falcons in back to back weeks doesn’t sit well with me. These are two teams that are suppose to be in about the same situation as us, and they both blew us out. I have been writing a little on Sundays now and you can find my initial reaction to the loss here:And the woes continue… Chiefs lose to Falcons

If you missed the game you didn’t miss a whole lot. For the second week in a row the Chiefs got ran all over. That was just one my dislikes from the game, you can read about the rest of them, along with a few things I did like, here:Game 3 Chiefs vs. Falcons - What I think…

At least LJ doesn’t  think he is being phased out of the Chiefs’ offense anymore. LJ actually had a pretty good game. He had 121 yards, averaged 5 yards/attempt and scored a TD. I’m glad to see you back LJ, please keep running like that, we love to watch it.

For what it is worth there is a rumor going around that Chiefs made a phone call to the Browns inquiring about Brady Quinn, and pretty much got hung up on. I don’t blame the Browns I would have done the same thing, especially with Mr. Anderson sucking as bad as he is right now, you know it is only a matter of time before Quinn gets him some PT.

As for as the podcast last week we released a new episode of Brick Hits. In Brick Hits: Episode 7 - Podcast Brick and I talked about our likes/dislikes from the Chiefs/Raiders game, previewed the Chiefs vs Falcons, and we unveiled our “Tool of the Week” If you have listened please leave us a comment about what you thought. We are trying to bring you something you can enjoy and would love any suggestions that you might have for us to make the show better.

As usual a new Brick Hits will be released on Tuesday or Wednesday this week and I encourage all of you to give it a listen and let us know what you think. There will be lots of topics to cover this week and I don’t know what all of them will be, but I can guarantee you that we will talk about the Chiefs being 0-3 and name a Tool of the Week.

And just like last few weeks I am going to throw out a shout for Nick over at IWS Sports Blog and his contest. If you would like a chance to win an Xbox 360 and a copy of Madden 09 don’t forget to check out I’m Writing Sports Contest. Win a Xbox 360 and Madden 09!. This is a real contest with lots of prizes. The prizes include an Xbox360, autographed memorabilia, and some betting lines, courtesy of BetUS.com, Sports Memorabilia.com, and Harlequin Frenchies. I figure I will keep throwing this out there because we all like free stuff and we could definitely use a pick me up right about now. I might suggest not betting on the Chiefs if you do win any of the betting lines though.

Good Luck (for you and me) :)

I normally say “Happy Monday” here but I’m not even feeling that this morning after that dismal showing against the Raiders… let’s just hit it.

The Chiefs blew chunks this weekend. Losing to the Oakland Raiders doesn’t sit well with me anyways, but when you lose on your home turf to the Raiders that just ticks me off, as you can see from my post from last night:What the CRAP!?!? We just lost to the RAIDERS at HOME!

If you missed the game consider yourself lucky as it was truly hard to watch. The Raiders ran all over the Chiefs, literally ran for 300 yards on 47 carries. Yes, it’s true and here is the box score to prove it.

During the game the Chiefs lined up three different players at QB: Damon Huard, Tyler Thigpen, and Marques Hagans. Huard was supposedly injured during the game which has been questioned by the media. It seems to me that Huard could have played, which I believe Huard even said in a post-game interview. So, did Herm bench him in favor of Thigpen? If that was the case Herm does know we are not in the preseason anymore right?

Also, LJ now seems to think he is being phased out of the Chiefs’ offense. After watching LJ run I really wonder sometimes if he is the same back. He used to just unload on people and punish them when they tried to tackle him, I don’t see that anymore. I don’t know if the problem is him, the offensive, or a combination of the two but whatever it is it needs to be fixed very soon.

As for as the podcast last week we released a new episode of Brick Hits. In Brick Hits: Episode 6 - Podcast Brick and I talked about our likes/dislikes from the Chiefs Patriots game, previewed the Chiefs vs Raiders, and we unveiled our “Tool of the Week” Still, I really suggest giving Brick Hits a listen, I think the new audio only podcast works a lot better.

Happy Frustrated Monday all…

The Chiefs blew a perfect opportunity to steal one from the Patriots this weekend. I don’t put all the blame on him, but what happened D. BOWE??  You make one great TD catch and then the second time you let one bounce off of your hands?  In my opinion any time a ball hits the receiver in the hands he should make the catch… especially if they call thyself “The Show”. See more of what I thought about the game in Game 1 Chiefs vs. Patriots - What I think…

In case you missed it, or if you just want a refresher don’t forget to Watch Kansas City Chiefs vs New England Patriots Highlights I am somewhat happy that the Chiefs put up a fight in this game, but I will not be content with that. When you have a chance to win the game late that is exactly what you should do, regardless of the circumstances.

During the game Brodie Croyle got hurt, as did Tom Brady and he is reportedly out for the year. Sorry Tom, And to anyone that says that was a dirty hit, you are WRONG. Pollard was being held down and was just trying to make a play for his team. If you want to talk about dirty hits go talk to Rodney Harrison. Also, maybe if Belichick would have read the letter I wrote to him Brady would still be playing, I know it wasn’t the foot that got him, but you can’t argue that if he didn’t play he wouldn’t have been injured.

As for as the webisodes last week we released Brick Hits: Episode 5 and it was in a new audio only format. In Brick Hits: Episode 5 - Virgin Podcast Brick and I covered the Chiefs final roster moves, previewed the game against the Patriots and named our “Tool of the Week” and “Tool of the Preseason”. I really suggest giving Brick Hits a listen, I think the new audio only podcast works a lot better.

As usual a new Brick Hits will be released on Tuesday or Wednesday this week and I encourage all of you to give it a listen and let us know what you think. There will be lots of topics to cover this week and I don’t know what all of them will be, but I can guarantee you that we will talk about the Chiefs loss to the Patriots and name a Tool of the Week.

Monday Morning Thoughts… (Tuesday Edition)

Happy Tuesday that feels like a Monday everyone…

Since I was out of town this last holiday weekend I didn’t have much time to blog, therefore we now have the weekly Monday Morning Thoughts… Tuesday Edition.

This last week had a lot of new regarding our Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs won the annual battle for the Governor’s Cup and the first teams looked pretty good in doing so. You can see what I thought about Preseason Game 4 Chiefs vs. Rams - What I think…

Also there were a lot of roster moves this week as the Chiefs cut down to the mandatory 53 players.  The Chiefs Begin Roster Cuts and then not too much later decided on a final (until the waiver wire) roster here:Chiefs make final roster cuts

The Chiefs were active in picking up a couple players from the waiver wire. One was G Brian De La Puento who had been released by San Francisco.  He was a college free agent signed out of the University of California-Berkley.  The other was LB Erik Walden, who as a 6th-round draft choice this year of the Dallas Cowboys out of Middle Tennessee State. To make room for these people the Chiefs had to cut cornerback Tyron Brackenridge and rookie LB Wes Dacus.

Oh, and don’t forget to see if the Chiefs got a B.J. or a Savage?

As for as the webisodes go last week we released Brick Hits: Episode 4 and W-W-What do you want me to do??.  In Brick Hits: Episode 4 Brick covers the Chiefs, the loss to the Dolphins and there is a new feature called “Tool of the Week”. The W-W-What do you want me to do?? video this week is about “Mr. 4th String”.

Also, since we are running about a day behind this week Brick Hits will be released on Wednesday and there is going to be something VERY different about it this week, but you will have to check back tomorrow to see just what that is.

One more thing: If you would like a chance to win an Xbox 360 and a copy of Madden 09 don’t forget to check out I’m Writing Sports Contest. Win a Xbox 360 and Madden 09!. This is a real contest with lots of prizes. Good Luck (for you and me :) )

Happy Monday!  :):(

I don’t know about you but after Saturday’s butt whippin’ that the Fins laid on us I tried to forget about the game on Saturday. Getting beat by the Miami Dolphins 24 - 0 is unacceptable!! Scoring ZERO points in a game is just…  someone should get kicked squarely in the taint.  Yes, that’s how I really feel about it and if you want to hear a little bit more check this article out: Preseason Game 3 Chiefs vs. Dolphins - What I think…

Ok, now that I got that out of my system lets talk a little bit about the previous week here at KC Chiefs Football:

Last week was the first home game of the year for the Chiefs and we released our first Tailgate video. This is basically to show some of you that can’t make it to the games how tailgating can be at Arrowhead, or for those of you that just want to watch how we get down.  Keep in mind that is the first tailgate video and it’s only preseason action as well, the intensity will pick up during the regular season. I plan on doing one of these for each game so stay tuned to see them.

Last week we also put out the usual two new webisodes, Brick Hits Episode 3 and W-W-What do you want me to do? (Hermism style).

If you like Brick Hits (or just like watching him get blown up at random times) then check out Brick Hits Episode 3. We kept the same format as Episode 2 and if you have any comments or suggestions on things you would like to see please let us know. Feedback is much appreciated.

The W-W-What do you want me to do? this week was about the Chiefs starters and what I wanted them to do for the Dolphins game. Obviously they did not listen.

Yesterday I recorded and released Chiefs vs Dolphins Game Reactions. It is just a shot little video where you can see my reaction and thoughts about the game and what I did to combat my feelings.

Also, this past week week I talked about the Chiefs Linebacker situation and the recent injury bug that took a bite out of the Chiefs.

That is all for now Chiefs fans.  Take it easy and try to enjoy your day. Thank the lord it is a short week this week. Bring on the Rams!

Happy Monday!  :):(

The Chiefs had their second preseason game this past week against the Arizona Cardinals and lost 27-17.  There were still some positives for the Chiefs in their first loss since last December and I covered some of my likes and dislikes about last Saturday’s game in this article:Preseason Game 2 Chiefs vs. Cardinals - What I think…

The Chiefs seem to be playing Thigpen as much as they can so they can do their best to get a read on him

The Chiefs want to see more of Tyler Thigpen before making a long-term decision on the second-year player as the team’s backup quarterback. For now, that’s what he is. And the Chiefs’ backup quarterback situation isn’t likely to change — for the next few weeks, anyway.“Right now,” Herm Edwards said Sunday, “we’re going with these guys.” [KC Star]

The Chiefs have also have not ruled out signing another QB

Edwards said the team has not ruled out signing or trading for another quarterback, but there is no rush. He said if the Chiefs need another passer, likely a veteran, good players will be available when rosters are cut in two weeks. [KC Star]

So if you have been keeping an eye on this site then you noticed that we released two new webisodes this week. Brick Hits Episode 2 and W-W-What do you want me to do? (Hermism style).

In Brick Hits Episode 2 we mixed it up a little and changed the format around. More people viewed Episode 2 than Episode 1, but not much more feedback so please let us know if you like it and what we can do better to appeal to you. Oh… and don’t forget to watch the ending of Brick Hits, its a shocker… for Brick!

The W-W-What do you want me to do? this week was about the Chiefs offense and what I wanted them to do for the Cardinals game. Check it out to see if they came through.

Also, this morning we released a new Tailgate video. This video shows fotage from the Arrowhead parking lot, what we laid the grub on, and a guy on a mini-bike. This video is for those of you that can’t make it to the games to tailgate or just those of you that would like to see it from another perceptive. We plan on releasing a tailgate video after every Chiefs home game so watch out for those.

That is all for now Chiefs fans.  Take it easy!

How are all of you on this wonderful Monday morning? Yeah, Monday’s stink for me too.

The Chiefs had their first preseason game this past week against the Chicago Bears and pulled out a 24-20 victory.  There were a lot of positives for the Chiefs in their first win since last October and I covered some of my likes and dislikes about last Thursday’s game in this article:Preseason Game 1 Chiefs vs. Bears - What I think…

If you, like me, will be at the Chiefs home opener against the Oakland Raiders then you will be in for special treat as American Idol winner David Cook will be singing the National Anthem.  I admit that for the first time I was caught up in American Idol last season so this will be pretty cool for me. Also, after some of people we had sing out National Anthem last year this will be a big step up.

This last week was a pretty big week for kccchiefsfootball.com as we premiered two video series, Brick Hits and W-W-What do you want me to do?. ‘Brick Hits’ is a weekly show that will talk about some of the news that is buzzing around in Chiefs Nation and is hosted by a guy that we call ‘Brick’… enough said.  ‘W-W-What do you want me to do?’ is kind of a Herm-ism style video playing off one of Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards well known sayings.  This short video will focus on one person/topic and I will tell ‘em w-w-what I want them to do. I hope you enjoy these videos and please leave a comment on the video page to let me know what you think.  These are our first video productions and are always looking for way to improve them. Both of these series will have a new web-isode this week so stay tuned!

We all knew Jamal Charles was fast, but holy crap… I didn’t know he was “I could go to the Olympics” kind of fast.

[Jamaal] Charles’ personal best time in the 100 meters was a wind-aided 10.13 seconds that he ran in an NCAA regional in the spring of ‘06. He had a legal time in the 100 of 10.18 seconds.

This year’s qualifying standards for appearing in the Olympics in the 100 meters was 10.21 and 10.28 seconds.

His personal best time in the 200 meters was 20.62 seconds. He ran that on April 22, 2006 in Austin. The U.S. qualifying standards for the 200 were 20.59 and 20.75 seconds.

All those performances came in the spring of 2006 as a freshman. [kcchiefs.com]

And in other Chiefs news it looks like Turk has beat out Boone for the LDE sport, at least for now, and is running with the first team.

The Chiefs have their first home game of the {pre)season on Saturday and I for one can’t wait to get my first Arrowhead fix of the year.  It has been a long time coming. If you see me there stop by and say hello and I will probably mention it in a future post.

Well, that is all for now Chiefs fans. I hope y’all enjoy the rest of your day.

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend so much that you wish it wasn’t over (as do I).

Finally football season is really here as the first preseason game was last night. Washington beat Indy thanks to former Hawaii QB Colt Brennan.

The Chiefs wait until Thursday to play the Bears but will have to do it without their two first-round draft picks as Branden Albert and Glenn Dorsey are both injured. Apparently Dorsey’s injury isn’t as bad as the Chiefs initially thought so that is always good. I think it should be a good test for the Chiefs offense on Thursday. The bears still have one of the better defensive lines in the league and if the Chiefs can contain them they they are doing something right, right?

Jason Whitlock has a new negative article about the Chiefs. He claims that the Chiefs’ defense is not a pretty sight. One worthwhile comment from the article:

Pro football, more than any other sport, is like a woman. The moment you think you have the game figured out is the very moment the game makes a complete fool out of you

While I don’t agree with a lot of what Whitlock says he does bring a new perspective to the table so it at least gives you something else to think about… for a minute.

Chiefs training camp is still going on and I plan on keeping you all as up to date as possible. So check back for updates.

Before I go I want to make a little annouce… well, lets not call it that. Let’s just say that their is a rumor of video series on kcchiefsfootball.com being thrown around. At this time I can’t really comment on it, but keep your eyes peeled.

glenn dorsey Chiefs

So it was a pretty eventful weekend with the Dorsey signing and training camp starting. I can now smell football in the air, at least I hope that’s what I’m smelling. :)

First off I would like to thank Carl Peterson for getting all the draft picks signed in reasonable amount of time. I can honestly say that I’m a little surprised but it’s good to see that he is behind the rebuilding process and understands how important it was to get these rookies in on time this year.  Good job Carl.

Apparently Chiefs center Rudy Niswanger is a very smart fellow, but you may not want to boo him.

Booing Rudy Niswanger may not be smart.

Kansas City’s cerebral young center almost never forgets anything he does, sees or hears. And one day he may be standing over your unconscious body holding a sharp knife.

But don’t worry, unless you are a Broncos or Raiders fan.

An honors graduate from LSU with a degree in kinesiology, Niswanger was accepted into medical school before he was ignored in the 2006 draft. He seriously thought about becoming an orthopedic surgeon.

Full Niswanger article here.

The Orange and Brown Report (what a name huh) seem to think Devard Darling is the current leader in the race for the #2 WR position

One of this offseason’s most anticipated position battles in Kansas City is for the starting wide receiver spot opposite Dwayne Bowe. Early on, it looks like a two-horse race led by free agent signee Devard Darling.

With the other horse being Jeff Webb. WI seems to think that if the season started today our starting WR’s would be Bowe and Darling, with Franklin at the slot. What do you think?

Speaking of Jeff Webb it appears that La Quinta High School’s own has re-dedicated himself to training to make most of his chance with the Chiefs. I’m not sure how to take that, but if it means he is trying his hardest to be the best he can this year then I guess I can’t complain about that.

My final Monday morning thought…  is it Tuesday yet?

That’s all for now Chiefs fans.  Check back for more coverage of the Chiefs as training camp heats up.
