Congrats Tony Gonzalez for setting all-time TE yardage record
Sorry it had to come like this Tony G. We all know you that you would have loved to have broken the record against Denver, but it happened at an away game on a short pass early in a 34 - 0 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Gonzalez broke this record with a six-yard reception late in the first quarter that gave him 10,064 career yards, surpassing the previous record of 10,060 by former Donkey Shannon Sharpe.
Tony G is already the career leader in touchdowns and receptions by a tight end. He has also now caught a pass in 120 consecutive games.
So lets give it up for Tony Gonzalez, we all know that you are greatest TE ever. Show some love to him in the comments people.

Does Tony Gonzalez want to be Traded?
I don’t know about you, but I have thought about this before and once the Chiefs started rebuilding I got even more worried that something like that could happen. Here is what Tony Gonzalez had to say about the possibility of being traded:[from Adam Schefter's Blog on nfl.com]
- Then, the question was posed to Gonzalez on Wednesday and he set the record straight. While it might not be the ideal scenario, he could see himself going to Chiefs management and requesting a trade to a Super-Bowl contender.
“Yeah. I definitely could, but I love being a Chief,” Gonzalez said Wednesday. “But if it was something where it was going to take three or four years or whatever before they get this thing right, I think it would be in their best interest to maybe see what they can get and send me off.
“But I love being a Chief and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else at this point. At the end of this season, hopefully I don’t have to ask that. Hopefully we get this thing turned around. I’ve got a family now. I came here when I just turned 21, so this is home. That’s where I’m at right now with that.”
I would really HATE to see Tony G go to another team, but do we owe this to him? The man is one of my all-time favorite Chiefs so I don’t know what to say about this… what do you guys think?

Q&A with TONY GONZALEZ - 7/28 - Video
Here is fan favorite Tony Gonzalez talking to media. I wish we could get you to a Super Bowl before you retire Tony.

- Q: What do you think about the team’s dedication to rebuilding?
TONY GONZALEZ: “There’s nothing we can do about it. I think coach has made that decision, you know as far as getting rid of the older guys on the team, to go younger, and that’s fine with me. I think with the guys he brought in here, I’m definitely happy with it. At first I was frustrated – I was a little pissed off to tell the truth – because I’m winding down in my career and I’m thinking ‘this is not what I signed on for last year when I redid my deal’ after seeing the guys that they brought in and after the draft, it’s making a lot more sense. We’re a pretty good football team. There’s no doubt about it.”
Q: Is it kind of Ironic to you that the closest you’ve been to the Super Bowl was your rookie year (in ‘97)?
GONZALEZ: “Well, we had a pretty good team when Dick (Vermeil) was here, too (in 2003). But it weighs on my mind all the time and that’s part of the frustration part, you know? We’re getting rid of all these guys and I’m getting on in my career – I haven’t even won a playoff game. That’s the reality of it. You can look back and say you know, you had a pretty good career, but I want to say I went to the playoffs, I won some playoff games and I went to the Super Bowl.”

Tony Gonzalez Saves Mans Life
Tony Gonzalez saved a man from choking on his dinner.
-
Last Thursday, Tony Gonzalez, star tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs was dining with his wife October and newly born daughter Malia at Capones restaurant in Huntington Beach. Across the room a man, Ken Hunter started to choke on his steak. When Gonzalez realized nobody was doing anything to help him, he jumped up and rushed over to the man and performed the Heimlich Maneuver. “I just did what my natural instincts told me to do, help someone in need”. “I couldn’t just sit there and do nothing”. “The man was in distress and he needed help quickly”.
Hunter, a long time Charger Fan, said he will be “forever grateful to Tony and will now be rooting for him and his team in the upcoming season”. “Me and my girlfriend couldn’t thank him enough, he saved my life”.
Hunter just had just taken a second a bite of his Filet Mignon when he realized it wasn’t going down.
“It got stuck in my throat and I couldn’t breathe”. “I tried to take a drink of water and then the water wouldn’t go down. “I knew I was in trouble”.
A nurse dining in the establishment later commended him on his quick instincts.

Anyone else wonder why the nurse in the establishment wasn’t the first on the scene? Oh well, Tony G took care of it. That’s why he’s the man!
